Legacy Concert
From humble beginnings in 1951, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann has grown into the largest festival of Traditional Irish Music, Song and Dance in the world. The town of Ennis hosted Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 1956 and 1977 and it is generally recognised that both occasions proved milestones in the development of the Fleadh Cheoil project.
Legacy - Oidhreacht agus Ceiliúradh featuring the Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra of Ireland as well as performances by special guests including the incomparable Joanie Madden, noted singers, Nell Ní Chróinín, Tadhg Maher, Shauna McGarrigle, and Aodán Coyne of ‘Socks in the Frying Pan’ as well as dancers extraordinaire Sibéal Davitt, the Gardiner Brothers and the All-Ireland winning set dancers from Tulla. The headline event of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Inis 2017 takes its audience on a journey through the musical and cultural landscape of Ireland honouring some of the greats who have helped shape and define our tradition down through the generations. Inspired by some of the our finest tunes and songs, Legacy will also feature newly composed music by acclaimed musician, Tom Doorley of Danú fame and will be scripted and directed by Ray Conway whose staging of the historical pageant Seachtar Fear - Seacht Lá was one of the highlights of last year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
