The following tutors will be taking part in the weekends events:

Eileen O’Brien hails from Nenagh in Co. Tipperary, and is a gifted musician, teacher and composer. Born into a musical family, her late father was the legendary button accordion player and composer of tunes, Paddy O'Brien; her mother, a member of the Seery family. Jim Seery, the fiddle player (Eileen's grandfather) and Sean Seery (piper) were both leading members of “The Pipers Club” in Dublin and also founder members of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Eileen received a classical music education at Municipal School of Music Limerick up to Diploma level and continued on to get her M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance at the University of Limerick. She currently teaches at the University of Limerick in undergraduate and post-graduate programmes conducted in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

Danny O’Mahony is a traditional musician from Ballyduff in North County Kerry. Both imaginative and fearless in his interpretation, Danny’s musical style is expressive and deeply personal, and reflects his affinity with the music of past masters. His performance abilities have been acknowledged through winning Junior & Senior All-Ireland titles and graduating from the University of Limerick with a Masters in Performance. In 2013 Danny was awarded Top Button Accordionist (US, IRE, EU, UK) by the Irish Music Association in America. Danny joined The Shannon Vale Céilí Band in 2009, winning the prestigious All-Ireland Senior Céilí Band title at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (2011), performing at Áras an Uachtaráin for President Michael D. Higgins on St. Patrick’s Day (2014). 2011 saw the release of Danny’s long awaited and critically acclaimed debut solo recording ‘In Retrospect‘ accompanied by Patsy Broderick on piano, Cyril O’Donoghue on bouzouki and Johnny ‘Ringo’ McDonagh on percussion.

Damien McGuinness comes from Dromore West in Co. Sligo. He plays button accordion, melodeon, drums and bodhrán. Damien has multiple All-Ireland titles in both solo and Céilí Band competitions, having been a member of the Dartry and Moylurg Céilí bands who won the All-Ireland in 2009 and 2013 respectively. He works as a primary school teacher in Dublin and teaches music for Comhaltas branches during the week. Damien is a member of the Tireragh Branch of Comhaltas in Co. Sligo and has been involved for many years in the branches Céilí bands and Grúpa Cheoil. Damien has toured with Comhaltas and was the drummer with the Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra for both the Boroimhe and Macalla Suites. He has also served as Óg Bhaoil on the Ard Comhairle and wrote a guide book for Comhaltas Youth Officers recently.

George McAdam From Co. Monaghan, George plays banjo, mandolin and céilí drums. He has won many All Ireland titles at Fleadhanna, most recently in Senior Banjo and Mandolin competitions in Sligo in 2015. His two sisters, Claire and Ursula, are also accomplished musicians. He tutors céilí bands representing Monaghan at county, provincial and All-Ireland levels. George has taught banjo at the 2015 Willie Clancy Summer School, and teaches music in several centres in Monaghan, Armagh and Dublin. He recently joned Scóil Éigse as a tutor. He plays drums with the Blackwater Céilí Band representing Ulster for the first time at the 2015 All-Ireland Fleadh in Sligo.

Deirdre Scanlan comes from Ballina, Co Tipperary and started singing at an early age. She has been at the forefront of traditional and contemporary Irish music for a number of years. An all Ireland champion at junior and senior level, Deirdre is an accomplished solo and ensemble performer. In 1999 Deirdre’s first recording Speak Softly was released to critical acclaim. From 1999 to 2007 Deirdre took the role as lead vocalist with internationally acclaimed Irish American group Solas, featuring on five of their recordings, and toured extensively through Europe, the US and Japan. She has performed on the international stage from London’s West End to the famous Radio City Music Hall NYC. Deirdre is currently a primary school teacher in Nenagh and teaches singing and fiddle with Droichead Trad, Killaloe. She is also a member of the Coiste Ceoil, a sub-committee of the Ardchomhairle of CCÉ, where she engages in the promotion of traditional singing.

Niamh O'Sullivan is a concertina player from county Dublin. She has toured Ireland and Britain with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann’s Macalla na hÉireann. In 2012, Niamh won the Senior concertina competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Cavan. Niamh was a member of the Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra of Ireland who performed both the ‘Boroimhe’ and ‘Macalla’ suites. She holds the T.T.C.T. and T.C.R.G. qualifications and has tutored and adjudicated at many Fleadhs and festivals throughout Ireland, Britain and America including Scoil Éigse and the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. In recent years, Niamh has co-produced CCÉ tours of Ireland, Britain, USA & Canada.

Cian Kearins is a flute, whistle player and singer/lilter from Co. Sligo. An All-Ireland Champion on 14 occasions, he is a regular performer, tutor and adjudicator at festivals and workshops around the country. Cian is a member of the Dartry Céili Band. He is also a member of the Knocknashee Céili Band. Cian and his wife, Niamh have produced several successful CCÉ concert tours of Ireland, Britain, USA and Canada over the past number of years. Cian was also a member of the Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra of Ireland who performed the Boroimhe and Macalla suites in 2014/2016.
