A boost for the ‘Wren’ on St Stephen's Day

Ireland's worldwide cultural movement will have over 40 branches participating in this fun-filled festive event across the island of Ireland and also St. Louis, Philadelphia and South Jersey in America.

The old Irish custom of ‘Hunting the Wren’ on St. Stephen's Day is due for a big boost this year thanks to Comhaltas Celotóirí Éireann.

Musicians singers and dancers dressed in a variety of colourful outfits will bring joy and fun to the many places they visit singing the ‘Wren’ anthem ‘The Wren, the Wren, the King of all birds’ as they lift the spirits at this time of the year. Proceeds from the event will go to charitable and cultural causes. Look out for the wren as follows: Cavan Town, Kilrush, Doora-Barefield, Ennistymon, Omokilly, Mullagh, Killimor, Kilrickle, Ballydugan, Tynagh, Clonbur, Corr na Móna, Lixnaw, Ballybunion, Listowel, Ballydonoghue, Lisselton, Milltown, Ballylongford, Tarbert, Kilteel, Eadestown, Abbeyleix, Portlaoise, Ballyhahill, Athea, Edgeworthstown, Drogheda, Foxford, Athboy, Tullamore, Rahan, South Sligo, Killea, Dromore, Carrig-On-Bannow, Kilmuckridge, Kilcock, St. Louis, Philadelphia, South Jersey & Cardiff.
